KHÁNH HÒA HOSTS THE 2026 INTERNATIONAL VPS CUP SAILING REGATTA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NHA TRANG BAY

On 18 July 2026, the International VPS Cup Sailing Regatta 2026 officially commenced in Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa Province, marking the first time the province has hosted this prestigious international sailing event.

The regatta is one of the major and highlight marine sports events held as part of the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026. The event is organised by the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Seanata Sailing and Technical Services JSC.

Taking place from 18 to 19 July, participating teams will compete in the waters off Nha Trang Center (Nha Trang Ward). The competition is expected to feature 9 to 12 races, depending on weather conditions, wind strength, and sea currents.

The entire regatta is operated, supervised, and scored in accordance with international sailing standards by a team of experienced and professional sailing judges.

According to Mr. Bui Anh Tuan, Director of Seanata Sailing and Technical Services JSC and Head of the Organising Committee, the event not only provides an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate their technical skills, tactical abilities, and competitive spirit, but also contributes to promoting the image of Nha Trang Bay, while highlighting Khanh Hoa’s potential for marine sports development and coastal tourism to international audiences.

The regatta brings together nine sailing teams from leading professional yacht clubs in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, as well as domestic sailing clubs in Vietnam.

The participation of experienced sailors is expected to deliver exciting races while further enhancing Nha Trang’s position on the regional marine sports map.

Teams will compete in monohull and multihull sailing categories, featuring J80 and Hobie Cat 16 boats, under a points-based racing format to determine the overall champions.

Beyond a competition among leading sailing teams in the region, the 2026 International VPS Cup Sailing Regatta is expected to create spectacular scenes across the waters of Nha Trang Bay, adding a distinctive highlight to the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026.

The event also serves as an opportunity to showcase the beauty of Nha Trang Bay — one of the world’s most beautiful bays — to international audiences, while contributing to the promotion of local tourism and destination development.
